A Pinch of Salt
A few years ago I was baking cookies with a friend and as I was rattling off the ingredients from memory they stopped me as I said "1 teaspoon of Salt." "Salt?" They asked. "But we are making chocolate chip cookies, Why do we need salt?" Part of me just wanted to give the mom answer of, "because I said so, just do it," but I realized in the moment how much more significant this really was. One of my favorite scriptures for a while now has been 2 Nephi 2:11 "For it must needs be, that there is an opposition in all things. If not so...righteousness could not be brought to pass, neither wickedness, neither holiness nor misery, neither good nor bad.
