Don't Judge Me Because I Serve Differently Than You

If you've read my earlier posts you know for years I've prayed about serving a mission. If one was right for me, if I should go, when I should go, can I even do such a thing. Eventually the answer was yes, but in a different way.  I am a Young Church Service Missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. No, I don't knock on doors. No, you won't see me walking the streets or riding bikes. No, I don't leave my home for 18 months-2 years to teach the children of God. But I AM a missionary.  This last Sunday I was set apart as a missionary for the church. I get to serve the Lord just as those who knock on doors & ride bikes get to. I just get to do it in my own way.    You see, I have a medical condition. For those who know me, they know that I have been diagnosed with seizures. Though they are mainly under control, it was such a recent diagnosis that my doctor is still watching me very closely. I go in for blood work about ever...

Let it Grow

With the decision to start a service mission I have felt the Lord pulling me in a lot of different ways. He seems to be stretching me & pulling me in ways I never thought I would have to be stretched. Not because I can't be, but because I don't want to be!! I've realized that this is what He would call "growth."  Growing is an interesting thing. We look at it as a positive verb, yet when you are growing you are usually pretty negative about it.  The definition of growth is - an increase, as in size, number, or value... now increase is good. We are taught that we are sent here to learn & to increase our knowledge & to become more like God. So, we are sent here to grow.  In order to grow though, we must first be challenged or tested.
