Joyful Shenanigans
For the last few days I've been trekking from California to Idaho & back on down. I've had A LOT of fun & made a lot of memories. But in case y'all were curious about how it all went, here's a small update:
Snow is a fun time: I don't think I've ever seen so much snow on the ground at one time. As cold as I was all I wanted to do was play in it. I threw a few snowballs & even had the chance to make a snow angel at one of our pit stops. Within 10 minutes I was ABSOLUTELY freezing but in the moment it was all worth it. It's the little things.
Laugh at yourself: So we were stuck in the car for a good 15 hours between 3 days & there is still more driving time to go, which isn't exactly a grand time. BUT if you can learn to laugh at yourself it makes it way more fun. From Snapchat filters to misspelt words I don't think I've ever laughed so hard I've cried more times in one trip. Kudos to Jess for putting up with me.
Just do it: Wanna make a snow angel but you're cold? Wanna visit ALL the temples? Wanna see East High from HSM? Wanna have a snowball fight? JUST GO FOR IT!! Now I'm not here to endorse Nike or anything like that but I've realized that last few months that the best adventures tend to be spontaneous. Do you always have time planned for these things? No. But I think if we stopped trying to plan our lives so much & just enjoyed it, we'd learn a bit more.
The church is oh so true: With all the pit stops I've made & things I've been able to do, my favorite by far is always Temple Square. There is so much peace felt on those grounds. I could sit in front of the statue of Christ all day & not have a care in the world. The love you feel when looking at Him is so immense. As we walked in the song "Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing" was finishing up.
"O to grace how great a debtor
Daily I'm constrained to be
Let thy goodness, like a fetter
Bind my wandering heart to Thee
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it
Prone to leave the God I love
Here's my heart, O take and seal it
Seal it for Thy courts above"
I'm nowhere near perfect but He loves me & this stop confirmed that love so much. He's not going to let me go as long as I keep trying, & I am so eternally grateful for that.
Thanks for the memories Idaho/Utah!! I'll definitely be back 💕
