New Day, New Me
With the start of a new year it's the start of all those "New year, new me" posts and to be totally honest we are only about a week into it and I'm already looking like this...
No offense to anyone who wants to change. I'm all about change. Especially changing yourself for the better. Change is good, so you go glen coco. But as I was discussing how annoying these get at the beginning of the year with my family, my sister said something quite profound. She said "I don't know why people have to wait for the new year to change. How about new day, new me?"
That got me thinking. Of course I have tons of resolutions and I tend to think the same things as I'm sure we all do.
"I'll start Monday."
"I'll just wait until the new year."
But in all honesty what is stopping us from starting right here, right now other than ourselves? Why not get up, stop what you are doing & start those resolutions and goals right now?
Want to lose weight? Change your diet & exercise more starting today.
Want to save more money? Open up an account and start putting money in it today.
Want to read the Book of Mormon all the way through? Put down your phone and pick up the book right now.
Just do it!! Don't put it off!! Don't put off that physical, mental, or spiritual progression any longer!!
Then once you're on that path towards progression and change, don't look back. Ever.
The change might be hard at first but with that desire you can do it. Not only will you want to do it, but the Lord will help you do it. If you pray and ask the Lord daily for help He will help you accomplish these goals.
He wants you to succeed. He doesn't want you to look back at what you've been, He wants you to see what you can be.
So though the beginning of the New Year is passed, it is not too late to make goals and to become the person you want to be. Just keep you head facing forward. Remember Lott's wife, and "Look not behind thee..." (Genesis 19:17).
It's always a good day to try again :)
